Confused? Not able to Decide, whom to follow. Heart or Intelligence ?(Based on book "Brain Drain" written by Charles F. Glassman)
Technique 1. Develop matrix between Circumstances (what is triggering the fight) , Danger (if you do what will happen), Comfort / Safety (if you do not do what will happen). For, example you are doing good in your company and you have spend 5 years at organization, but you confront with a good opportunity which has better scope and new profile. Following will be the Matrix;
Circumstances / Trigger
Danger
Comfort / Safety
Not Taking the job
Box -1 Routine and familiar work. No new learning. Stuck up at one profile
only. Minimization of future growth. Inner frustration due to less enriched
profile
Box -2 Familiar work, staying at home slow but steady growth.
Taking the job
Box -3 New challenges and things never done before will be required. If not
able to do than I will lose that job and current job as well. Ultimately sit
at home with no money and become dependent.
Box -4 New profile, new hopes. Learn to adjust with new circumstance and
people. Chance to explore the world. Chance to moving to
Normally we jump between Box-2 and Box-3 as our automatic brain i.e. Emotional Brain (Amygdala) wants to stay in familiar situation by showing comfort / safety in present situation(not taking the job) and danger in going to new situation (Taking the Job). But rational brain says to move in Box-4. To move in Box-4 , do not believe, trust, directions from thought generated from box-2 and box-3 and focus your emotional brain in Box-1 and Box -4 by giving it reasons and rewards of moving to Box-4 and attach losses with Box-1 to make your belief 100% not even 99.99%. Create Mantra, Affirmations e.g. "I will do it with being strong, powerful and influential", repeat it, but first settle your thoughts by letting some deep breaths go so your urge to act immediately influenced by Adrenal flow in your brain.
